To implement the national energy development plan and promote high-quality development of the coal industry, on the afternoon of March 6, an exchange meeting between the Coal Group of the "15th Five-Year Plan" Science and Technology Program of China Energy Group and the School of Energy and Mining Engineering was held in Room 318 of the Comprehensive Building. Zhou Baojing, Deputy Director of the Engineering Technology R&D Department of the Coal Technology Research Institute, and Xu Lianhang, Section Chief of the Electromechanical Technology R&D Department, attended the meeting, together with Peng Suping, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Wang Jiachen, former Vice President of the university; Gao Laiju, Party Committee Secretary of the school; and Yang Shengli, Dean of the school.

Zhou Baojing, head of the Coal Group, said that smart coal mine development is the only way to achieve high-quality development of the coal industry and an important measure to safeguard national energy security. He noted that China Energy Group's "15th Five-Year Plan" will focus on technical breakthroughs in areas such as "digital characterization technology and equipment for coal and rock strata" and "multi-dimensional data-driven digital rock mechanics solvers." Through this visit, they hope to gather valuable opinions and suggestions to improve the quality of the plan and create cooperation opportunities.

Peng Suping stressed that more R&D investment should be made in areas such as the integration of well logging technology with geological research and high-precision positioning technology, so as to break through key technical bottlenecks and push smart coal mine development to a higher level. He also called for stronger cooperation across industry, academia, research, and application, and faster transformation and application of research findings, so as to provide stronger technical support for safe and efficient coal mining.

Wang Jiachen pointed out, in response to the plan, that many pieces of coal mine equipment still suffer from high failure rates and high maintenance costs during long-term operation. He suggested that the coal industry further improve equipment reliability and introduce imaging technology, so as to achieve more intuitive and efficient safety monitoring and production management.

Gao Laiju said the school has always valued cooperation with enterprises and research institutes. He looks forward to working with China Energy Group to strengthen cooperation in key areas such as clean coal mining, smart mine construction, and R&D of new coal-based materials, achieve deep integration of production, education, research, and application, and jointly promote high-quality development of the coal industry.

Yang Shengli gave a detailed introduction to the school's recent research progress in the coal sector and put forward suggestions on key research directions for the "15th Five-Year Plan" period. He said the school will continue to leverage its research strengths, deepen cooperation with China Energy Group, jointly tackle key technical challenges in the industry, and provide scientific and technological support for the transformation and upgrading of the coal industry.

The meeting laid a solid foundation for the work of the Coal Group under the "15th Five-Year Plan" Science and Technology Program and clarified the key directions and cooperation paths for future innovation in the coal industry. The experts at the meeting agreed to take this meeting as an opportunity to further strengthen communication and collaboration, and jointly promote innovation and sustainable development in the coal industry.

It is reported that the meeting was also attended by Xu Xianlei, Deputy Director of the National Key Laboratory of Fine Exploration and Intelligent Development of Coal; Wang Zhiqiang, Deputy Dean of the School of Energy and Mining Engineering; Li Yang, Director of the Department of Resource Science and Engineering; Du Wenfeng and Zeng Yifan, Professors of the School of Geoscience and Surveying Engineering; and Xu Chao, Professor of the School of Emergency Management and Safety Engineering.
